He was the most awarded player in the league last season – a Mythical Second Team selection, a spot on the All-Defensive Team, Finals MVP of the Philippine Cup and Defensive Player of the Year by the PBA Press Corps. Pingris indeed make a mark last year.
After failing to get the needed exposure with Air21, the 6-4 power forward found a home with the Giants, posting career numbers of 27.9 minutes, 8.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. His 1.63 blocks a night was second in the league, just behind Marlou Aquino’s 1.65. Pingris, however, accumulated the most number of swats among locals with a total of 93 last year.
