He was Mr. Clutch of Purefoods last season, hitting golden baskets that saved his team from the claws of the defeat. He did it not just one or twice but a number of times and Castillo’s end-game heroics were definitely some of the highlights of the Giants’ success in 2005-06.
The 32-year-old guard saw his scoring average go down to 6.2 points per game as he was relegated as James Yap’s backup and sometimes Roger Yap’s at the point. Castillo played 51 games last year and submitted 22.5 minutes of playing time a night and those were precious moments as he oftentimes came up with the plays that mattered.
