His consistency and good decision-making got him the starting role with Purefoods, actually his second stint with the club after spending two years with Shell and Air21. And with the success of his team, Yap was rewarded a spot in the Mythical Five, his first major award since winning an MVP trophy in the PBL.
The 6-1 Cebuano guard had 36 starts in 57 games last season and averaged 7.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists (seventh overall). His 1.6 steals average was second in the league. As long as the 29-year-old Yap can produce those numbers regularly, expect him to keep that starting spot for the Giants.
